Sir Edward Blackett, Bart, died in his 81st year on the morning of 23rd November 1885 at Matfen Hall. He succeeded his father as 6th Baronet in 1816. He was educated at Eton and Christ Church College, Oxford, and formerly was a lieutenant in the 1st Lifeguards; he was deputy-lieutenant and J.P. for the county. He married four times, having by his first wife a numerous family.
