Jim and Bob Thompson submitted a planning application to establish a hot food takeaway service at the former Snack Bar in Lock Up Lane. The snack bar was established by their father Roddy and then run for many years by Mrs. Brown and daughter Dot Saint before its brief manifestation as a bistro and cyber bar. Back in the 1970s a fish and chip shop was operated from the premises; Bellingham has lacked a fish and chip shop since the demise of the Elliott operation opposite the Black Bull many years ago.
