Bardon Mill and Melkridge

The need for a footbridge at Bardon Mill was illustrated when a Carlisle gentleman fell into the River Tyne and got a ?cold bath? while using the stepping-stones. He was well looked after on that cold and frosty night by the hostess of a nearby farmhouse.
