Wooley Sanatorium, near Slaley, was opened by Northumberland County Council. Built for 114 patients, the wood-built sanatorium was sited on a 90-acre plot bought from Lord Allendale eight years earlier. Lord Eustace Percy, parliamentary secretary to the Ministry of Health, performed the official opening.
