Robert Charlton, who owns the Greenhead Hotel, outlined his plans for the Youth Hostel, with the overall outlook being to keep it as affordable accommodation. The hostel is one of 32 being closed as the YHA moves away from its traditional bunkhouse image. A converted 19th century Methodist Chapel, it opened in 1978 and is a three-star standard.
