An Elsdon farmer became so annoyed at the neighbour?s refusal to close gates around his property that he tried to force him to do so ? and was stabbed in the stomach for his pains. Although his wife sewed his protruding entrails back into his stomach, the farmer died and his assailant was charged with murder.
