Matthew Carroll, the six-year-old son of Bardon Mill schoolmaster Edward Carroll, was found in the yard of his home unconscious, in which condition he continued for six days and died on Sunday (30th August). It is supposed the poor child had been swinging on a door and had fallen on the flags causing concussion of the brain. (Morpeth Herald)
