Classic and Vintage Vehicle Rally 2024

We are holding our Annual Classic and Vinatage Vehicle Rally on Sunday 17th of April 2024 between 10am and 4pm.

This popular event is an important fund raising event for the Heritage Centre.

In recent years we have attracted over 70 vehicles comprising cars, tractors, motor cycles and commercial vehicles. During the day a "lighthearted" competition is held with visitors and exhibitors asked to vote for the best turned out vehicle. The winner receives a cup and trophy which are donated by friends of the late Ian McInnes, who was an enthusiastic supporter of the event.

 parcel shed 3 smaller

The Heritage Centre is open all week from Easter 29th March until the end of October half term, 10am to 4pm. Meanwhile, the Parcel Shed on the platform is open every day of the year - it's free to enter, and you can find out all sorts of fascinating facts about Bellingham and Hareshaw Linn, and see a mini-exhibition of  everyday objects from the 1960s.

The Heritage Centre is closed over the winter while the team of volunteers are busy behind the scenes. New volunteers are always welcome - please get in touch.

We operate PAY WHAT YOU THINK IT IS WORTH donations rather than admissions. There is no set admission fee. You simply pay what you think it is worth. Feel free to donate before or after admission or feel free to just visit us for free. (Group visits are still chargeable as these are usually separately agreed and additional volunteers are brought in to manage a group visit. The museum is often opened especially for such visits as well.)

Digital Collections

We have now made some of our Digital Collections available online. There are over 54,000 names in our ancestry database, nearly 2,000 Courant clippings and nearly 2,000 images from the Collier Collection (which is 100 years old). You can search these databases to see if you can find anything of interest or, you never know, you might find a picture of a relative from a 100 years ago. Go on, you know you want a peek!

Can you help us?
